You can experience a place where merge tradition and the present in a harmonious relationship. The Casemates have an eventful history behind it. built in 1865 as a market tunnel, the Casemates were used 1-9 then among other things as stables for showers men. Only in 1951 it breathed back life into the Casemates. A Jazz Club a furore throughout the Republic. Jazz greats such as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and many others were the Jack in your hand. Henceforth, the Casemates had found your name: "River Casemates", which is also the current name for the place where the guests are inspired and hosted in a refined ambience. The unique view of the river Casemates is the poster child or face of the port of Hamburg, and all this in a structure of the earlier time.
Hardly an other younger contemporary architecture are the river Casemates for cheerful openness in dialogue with the tradition. The aim is to preserve the spirit of the river Casemates it as institution alive and permanently positive synergies to supplement him.


Up to 75 people can be catered for in the restaurant. This area is the quieter of the two, the lounge is the second area which blends into the overall complex. It is much larger and offers a seat up to 135 guests. Here there are various seating areas.

Unique open air pleasure Harbour panorama (River Casemates terrace) it is said these were the most beautiful terraces in Hamburg. The wonderful views of the Elbe with the romance of their port and docks at Blohm and Voss speaks for itself. An open air experience with versatile uses is available on almost 700 m². Whether in shell-shaped orbit beach chairs or on chic basket stalls, sun-worshippers, cool breezes, Hamburg harbour air definitely come at their expense. The large outdoor bar does the rest to complete the ambience! A highlight which was only a few times a year, is the one - and exit the luxury liner Queen Mary 2. From the terrace of the river Casemates, it has Premiumplätze and views on this wonderful ship, as hardly another point of Harbourside.
